How long between shots to you go when trying to work up a load.

I follow the same regiment regardless of what type of shooting I'm doing. Load, fire, swab the barrel between each shot.
I'll do 3 or 4 shots, then I'll walk down to the target to check my groupings.
I take my time, as I don't want the barrel to get too hot.
My method seems to work for me.
The guys who shoot smokeless probably have a different routine.

I only shoot bullet to bore, so there's no issue with either BH or when shooting SML.
Load and shoot. Normally 5 rounds per target, then check them.

Sized bullets/lead conicals - load and shoot.

Sabots - don’t let the barrel get too warm (depends entirely on the ambient temps).

Yea I was out today in this miserable heat. 98. Barrel got hot and stayed hot. Shots really started to move right and down.

I shoot in 100+ in Vegas. Have to use a cooling rod when it’s above about 85.

Aluminum or brass rod just small enough to go down bore & long enough to easy pull out. I usually use a 3" PVC tube that is capped & water or ice in it to keep rod cool n take heat out of barrel
